Noodles

Why is there so much advertising for 2 minute noodles. Who is buying it all? Why would you buy 2 minute noodles when noodles is your staple diet. It’s like drinking milk powder in NZ instead of milk. Except proper noodles aren’t expensive.

Great food they said. Nasi Lemak specialty for breakfast. So why aren’t any food places open? It’s 12:30 on a Wednesday and nothing is open. I’m hungry. Saw a 500yo church. Maybe I’ll bus back to KL to meet James Boyack before I starve. A fat American asked if I spoke English then asked if the food in the city was ok to eat. I said yes but wanted to say well its not McDonalds. In hindsight I should have said I don’t know I can’t find anywhere to find out.

I’m starting to feel like I’m doing something wrong, or just not getting it. Nice city, had relaxing beers on the river boardwalk but other than walk around for a day looking at some churches amd ruins, and talking to a guy who still makes chinese bound feet shoes what do you do?

Thursday- so it wasn’t me. Went out this morning for one last effort and all of the food places were open. Apparently they close Wednesday because Thursday through Monday are really busy. But surely If your only selling each meal for rm5 ($2nz) you need to be open 24/7. After having the two worst Meals of my trip so far in Melaka I finally was able to try something decent. Ordered the nasi lemak which is a breakfast meal in malaysia but I think I got a lunch version as it was nasi lemak chicken rendang. Coconut rice some nutty sauce thing boiled egg chicken rendang and some sweet deepfried tofu thing. Pretty good. Shame I only got one meal rather than 5.

Went out for a night stroll last night at 10pm. Went back to the church hoping it might be lit up. It wasn’t. But no one else there so I opened up some cans of sun and took a few photos.
